Chablis wine map: location and appellation
Chablis is a white-wine area around the Serein river in the Yonne, northern Burgundy. Its appellation is not confined to the commune of Chablis. Distinguish Chablis, Premier Cru and Grand Cru wording when reading a label.
Explore on the mapA commune is not the whole appellation
Do not read the administrative boundary of the town as the whole wine-growing area. Check whether the label says Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru with a climat, or Chablis Grand Cru, then select that specific feature on the map.
A producer and a vineyard are different things
Wines carrying the same appellation can have different producers and vintages. A winery address does not identify every vineyard used for a wine or establish ownership. WineGIS is an independent map guide, not a wine shop or price-comparison service.
How to explore with WineGIS
- Start with the region, then zoom in to compare names and boundaries. Click a mapped feature to read its details and available sources.
- Switch between the base maps or use terrain tools where available. A mapped boundary, vineyard location and winery address describe different things.
- Add your own location markers and optional notes. They stay in your browser until you explicitly share a snapshot.
Coverage and limitations
INAO reference boundaries, commune boundaries and individual vineyards are different datasets. Check the selected feature and its sources. Coverage is not a complete inventory of parcels, producers or ownership, and is not a legal boundary survey.
